A Thai man, Thanat Thangtewanon, was bitten on the testicles by a 12-foot python hiding in his toilet's U-bend, leaving his bathroom covered in blood. The incident occurred as he sat down and suddenly felt a sharp, painful bite. In shock, Thanat reached into the toilet and pulled out the snake, then beat it to death with a toilet brush to free himself. Despite significant bleeding, he rushed to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his injuries weren’t deep enough to require stitches and would heal naturally. Thanat expressed relief that the snake wasn’t venomous and said he now checks the toilet thoroughly before use. The python was later photographed dead on the floor. Similar incidents have occurred in Thailand, including a 2016 attack on a man whose penis was bitten and a 2020 case where a woman was bitten on the buttocks. Reticulated pythons, common across Southeast Asia, often live near humans and occasionally enter homes, leading to dangerous encounters. Though non-venomous, they are among the world’s largest snakes and capable of eating small animals—and even humans. Thanat’s terrifying experience highlights the rare but real danger of wildlife encounters in urban settings.
