FDA Warns Men About E-Liquids with Hidden Erectile Dysfunction Drugs

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to consumers—especially men—about two illegally marketed e-cigarette liquids from HelloCig that contain undeclared prescription erectile dysfunction drugs: sildenafil (Viagra) and tadalafil (Cialis). These ingredients were found in HelloCig’s “E-Cialis” and “E-Rimonabant” e-liquids. The company failed to properly label these products, putting users at serious health risk, particularly those with erectile dysfunction, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or those taking nitrates. Combining these drugs with nitrates can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.

Despite receiving multiple warnings from the FDA, HelloCig has not responded or recalled the products. The company also falsely advertised these e-liquids as “FDA approved,” violating federal laws. The misleading marketing included images of prescription bottles and suggestive content aimed at men.

While no side effects have yet been reported, the FDA urges all consumers to immediately stop using these products and report any adverse reactions to the MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about unregulated male enhancement products, as previous studies show that hundreds of supplements contain unauthorized drug ingredients.
